Sydney - jetzt aber richtig!

[engl] Eventuelly I managed to ‘escape’ the wonderful Manly and started to explore Sydney as I’ve planned originally. I checked in at a very nice hostel, the Wake Up Hostel and visited as many points during day and night time as possible in my limited time of 2 days. The typical tourist destinations, nice architecture, a little bit of culture (you know, museums and art galleries and stuff like that, my dear american friends ), a coastal walk around Bondi Beach and of course some bars. Sydney is doubtless a very nice city but i have to admit that i wasn’t that impressed at the beginning. Maybe I expected too much after all the positive opinions of you guys. But after a while I started to feel the special vibe of it and I really started to like Sydney more and more. What I got was just a little appetizer of it and you can check out the gallery to see what i saw in my short stay there!

Manly is verrrry naaaaaiceeee!

[engl] It’s almost the 7th of October and I’m still in Sydney. My plan was quite flexible but I didn’t plan to spend my whole Australia time in Sydney. And I’m not even spending my time in Sydney City but in Manly where my Guestfamily, Aline and Marcello provided me a very relaxed and easy-going life with a free bed, free surf boards and very nice evenings. But that has to stop soon! So i will leave my short time home tomorrow to visit all the Sydney highlights and to start traveling up the the Eastcoast.

Ein absolut sauberer Cut

[engl] What you see is the result of my second surfing day in Manly Beach. A big wave hit me badly and i’ve got a free spinning. The nose of my surf board landed only a few millimeters next to my left eye - Lucky again! No worries: it didn’t really hurt, actually i recognized my new ‘Bad Guy Look’ 2 hours later in the bathroom mirror. Bad timing as my first Sydney weekend is ahead and I will have to go out partying as a dangerous looking thug . A short update of my actual surfing skills: well, could be better. Let’s say it like that: Almost everybody is better around me here in Manly Beach, even young children and old Grandpas…but I’m working on it and it’s so much fun!

Darling Harbour, Sydney Downtown

[engl] My time in New Zealand has ended but a new time full of impressions, experiences and adventures is still ahead! First stop of my 3 months-trip is Sydney, Australia. I’m staying with friends from Hamburg, who live in Manly, a beautiful suburb with perfect surfconditions and a lot of beach culture. Besides some surfing i did the tourist: exploring the area and taking heaps of pictures…

Auckland City, New Zealand. My home for the last 9 months

[engl] It is unbelieveable how fast almost 9 months have passed by! 9 months full of unforgetable memories in a fantastic country with fantastic people! Today is my last day here in Auckland, New Zealand. Tomorrow, I begin my big “Farewell-Trip” back to Germany. I want to use this last entry which will be posted from NZ to leave a big shout out to all of my friends in New Zealand. You are the main reason, why my time here was so wonderful. Thanks / Merci / Danke / Cheers and so on…

Erlebt mit mir die faszinierende Unterwasserwelt Tongas

[engl] Our last day on our wonderful Island Uoleva. One last time we went snorkelling, then continued our usual acitivities like chilling, snoozing and reading until a water taxi brought us back to the real Tonga. At the only Bar/Restaurant/Cafe of the Island Lifuka we had the first time real food since several days as we ate only bread, breakfast cracker and coconuts the last days …

Paradies im Südpazifik

[engl] Second day on the fantastic island Uoleva. We planned to walk around it (takes usally 3 hours) but were instead of if it many hours in the water and fascinated by the variety of water creatures here. Afterwards ‘Dinner’ (bread, corned beef and uncooked, dry cupnoodles), then drinks and reading in the hamaks…easy going life! So erlebten wir den ersten Sonnenuntergang auf `unserer` einsamen Insel

[engl] Today we moved over to the Uoleva, an uninhabited island where you have only a couple of Fales (traditional huts), the owners of the tiny resort and us. We will stay 3 days here and we are the only guests what means that the island is ours! Couldn’t be better! After the storm yesterday we had a perfect sunny & hot day. Ideal to explore the first time Tonga’s underwater world and to use the first time my waterproof case for my small digital camera.

[engl] Hey, we didn’t fly out of Auckland to have the weather of Auckland! It rained the whole night and the whole following day. As the possible avtivities on a small island in Tonga are very limited, we spent most of the time very tongan: sitting, laying, reading, writing, sleeping, dozing, chilling…

Endlich `richtig`angekommen in Tonga: Pat(li), David(mitte) und ich(re)

[engl] Okay guys, we finally survived our little ferry trip to the island group Ha’apai. Because we arrived at 3.30am and didn’t want to spend money at a hostel for only 3 hrs, David found a ‘nice’ place to spend the rest of the night(see pics). The following day we had our first contact with the incredible friendly Tongan people and the beautiful beaches(i guess i will have to use that word a lot the next days) here. Check out our first encounters and be sure, it will get better and better….so stay tuned!
